Mission
Translation and Interpreting Research (TIR) is the official, open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed quarterly journal of the Research Institute for Translation Studies at Allameh Tabataba'i University, Tehran, Iran. The journal seeks to publish high-quality, original research articles that contribute to the theoretical and practical advancements in translation and interpreting studies. The editorial board encourages submissions that explore novel methodologies, address emerging trends, and shed light on contemporary challenges in the field.
Scope
TIR welcomes submissions from a wide range of theoretical and methodological approaches within translation and interpreting studies. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Journal Policies
- Complaint Handling: The Editor-in-Chief directly oversees and investigates all complaints within a specific timeframe. They consult with the editorial board, reviewers, and experts as needed to determine the appropriate course of action.
- Reviewer Selection: The Editor-in-Chief ensures that manuscripts are assigned to the most qualified reviewers.
- Impartial Review Process: The editorial board's decisions are solely based on the quality and content of the submitted manuscripts, free from political or financial influence.
- Editorial Authority: The Editor-in-Chief is the sole authority for announcing and enforcing all editorial board decisions.
- Editorial Integrity: The editorial board maintains transparency and accuracy in all journal processes, including manuscript editing and the preparation of guidelines.
- Ethical Practices: The editorial board is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and preventing any misconduct.
- Conflict of Interest: Editorial board members disclose any potential conflicts of interest before accepting their positions.
- Confidentiality: All information related to authors and their manuscripts is kept strictly confidential and not shared with third parties.
- Editorial Independence: The relationship between the Editor-in-Chief, editorial board members, publishers, and owners of the journal is based on the editorial board's independence.
- Error Correction and Scientific Integrity: The editorial board takes steps to correct errors in published articles and cooperates with other institutions to investigate scientific misconduct.
- Retraction Criteria: Articles may be retracted if they contain significant ethical violations (such as plagiarism or data falsification) or if substantial errors or new evidence undermines the main conclusions of the article.
- Expression of Concern: The journal will issue an "Expression of Concern" if there is evidence of misconduct or if the reliability of the article is seriously compromised.
- Amendment: For minor errors or inaccuracies, the journal may issue an amendment to correct the specific issue.
- Retraction Procedures: Retracted articles will be clearly marked as such, both online and in print. The reasons for retraction will be explained, and the article will remain in the archive but will be inaccessible.
- Confidentiality: Information about authors and manuscripts is kept confidential, except in cases of suspected scientific misconduct, where the Editor-in-Chief may share relevant information with other journals to prevent further issues.
- Authorship: Authorship is reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to the research, writing, and editing of the article.
- Conflict of Interest: Conflicts of interest, whether financial or personal, can compromise the objectivity of research and should be disclosed and managed appropriately.
- Plagiarism: Plagiarism, including copying, paraphrasing, or summarizing without proper attribution, is a serious ethical violation.
- Plagiarism Consequences: Plagiarized articles will be retracted, and authors may be banned from future submissions.
- Ethical Standards and Transparency: The journal is committed to maintaining high ethical standards, transparency in the review process, and editorial independence.
- Author Communication: The journal office communicates with all authors involved in a manuscript, not just the corresponding author.
- Dispute Resolution and Ethics: The author guidelines address how the journal handles disputes, conflicts of interest, ethical misunderstandings, and post-publication issues.
- Intellectual Property: The author guidelines explain the journal's intellectual property policies.
- Financial Sponsorship: Articles with financial sponsorship are reviewed solely based on their scientific merit, and financial considerations do not influence the review process.
- Financial Support: The Research Institute for Translation Studies (RITS) financially supports the journal.
- Advertising Policy: The journal does not accept advertisements for individuals or institutions requiring financial contracts.
- Disclosure of Sponsorship: Authors with financial sponsors must clearly disclose their sponsors' names in the article and inform the journal office.
- Editorial Decisions: Acceptance or rejection of manuscripts is based on their importance, originality, transparency, validity, and relevance to the journal's values.
- Review Timeframes: The journal office cannot guarantee a specific timeframe for review and acceptance.
- Initial Review: Editors or section editors conduct an initial review to ensure manuscripts meet basic requirements (e.g., fit with journal scope, double-blinded format, proper formatting) before sending them for external review. Manuscripts not meeting these criteria are returned to authors for revision.
